Everything starts with a two-hour, free consultation, usually via video or phone. During this I will outline the process, explain your protections during the therapeutic relationship and then talk through whatever is troubling you to see if I can help. If I feel I can and, if this is something with which you want to proceed, we will begin a program of around 10-12 weekly one-hour sessions, each focusing on helping you develop a 'mental health toolkit' to address your concerns. Each session is charged at £75, with a usual course of treatment costing between £750-900 in total. I can also access various funds and offer concessionary prices if required, so please let me know if you need to.
My approach is a simple and direct one, based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (usually called CBT). CBT essentially looks at how our internal thoughts interact with our environment through our behaviours and tries to help us understand and improve those interactions using a variety of techniques to increase focus, develop a better understanding of how we fit into our own individual worlds and generally help us address whatever mental health issue is manifesting itself. This approach is a very targeted one and is not the same as 'talk therapies' such as Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic therapy.
